YOUTHS purposely set fire to a train while on board in Dalmuir.

British Transport Police attended Dalmuir rail station yesterday, April 3, around 10am after reports were made.

The fire was said to be small and put out by the train driver.

A ScotRail spokesperson said: “Vandalism and anti-social behaviour on Scotland’s Railway is completely unacceptable, and we will work with the British Transport Police to bring those responsible to justice.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police added: "Officers attended Dalmuir railway station at 10.11am on April 3 after reports of two youths attempting to set fire to seats on board a train.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
