PUPILS from Antonine and Langfaulds primary schools enjoyed a special treat on World Book Day.

Author AH Proctor read stories from her popular Thumble Tumble book series in Drumchapel Library as part of her campaign to support Scottish libraries.

The books follow the adventures of an extraordinary little witch on the enchanting Isle of Arran.

Angela said: “I arrived at the library on a cold, dreich Thursday morning and was instantly cheered up by their wonderful World Book Day displays.

“The children then filed in dressed as book characters from dozens of different books adding that extra little bit of magic to the event.

“The children were absolutely brilliant throughout the entire session. They listened intently to the reading before devising their very own poison potion to banish a giant.

“I was quite literally blown away by their creativity and wonderful imaginations. The teachers from both schools said they were very proud of their pupils and I couldn’t agree with them more.”

Each school was also presented with a Thumble Tumble teaching pack.

Angela has commissioned the pack, specifically created to meet the objectives and outcomes set out in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.

The pack is being issued to every primary school across Scotland as a free teaching resource.
