A DALMUIR couple have pleaded for housing bosses to help sort damp in their home.

Chris Baird and fiancée Kelly-Ann Baird said the problem in their Lilac Avenue home has been going on for two years.

But with Kelly-Ann living with cerebral palsy and Chris suffering from asthma, they said they are suffering.

Council bosses insisted they are working to resolve the problem.

Chris has lived at the property for four years with Kelly-Ann, who has been there for eight years. The problem started two years ago and has been continuing, particularly now in their back bedroom.

Officials told the couple they would remove the defective walls, but not the floor.

Chris said: “It’s unbelievable. All the houses in Lilac Avenue have damp in them. It keeps coming back and you can smell it throughout the property. It’s affected everything.”

A spokeswoman for West Dunbartonshire Council told the Post: “We are sorry the tenants are unhappy with the service they have received.

“Our officers have been liaising with them and a specialist contractor has visited the property. We will continue to offer support and assistance to the tenants until this is resolved.”
