We have all suffered the frustration of a ScotRail cancellation or delay, but there are at least some trains that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The Model Rail Scotland 2019 exhibition is on all this weekend, with free child tickets available for Sunday.

It will feature reduced scale, model versions, which have been painstakingly put together through days, months and even years of hard-work by determined enthusiasts.

And residents now have the chance to see the fruits of their labour, as Scotland's biggest model railway exhibition returns to Glasgow today.

More than 15,000 people are set to descend on the city's Scottish Event Campus (SEC) for the show to check out the 50 plus layouts and 150 exhibitors on display.

Among the layouts will be a 34ft-long, 1:76 scale version of Alloa Station, which took five years to create and was built from scratch by members of a Glasgow-based club.

And if this leaves you feeling inspired, the event is also the ideal place to kick-start your own hobby.

The show covers all modellers needs, from those just looking to start out with box sets to the finest detail modellers with scratch build materials.

Advance tickets for adults cost £12 or £13 on the door. Advance tickets cost £5 for children or £6 on the door. Family tickets covering two adults and two children are also available and priced at £28 or £29 on the door.
