An internationally acclaimed Scottish ceramic artist held an exhibition recently of work that he created during a recent residency at Bowling Harbour.

The new art, created by Kevin Andrew Morris, 30, while he was in artist's residence with Lodestone Creative at the harbour, was inspired by the area’s surrounding landscape and heritage.

During his time there he developed his use of atmospheric firing, (when the kiln is already filled with chemicals and minerals to create a glaze so you don’t need to apply one beforehand).

He also built kilns on the beach using materials which were already there such as clay from along the estuary, old bricks and wood.

Kevin said: “Bowling was once part of a thriving network of industries including Littlemill distillery, which is rumoured to be Scotland’s oldest whisky distillery.

“I enjoyed researching the area's rich heritage and it’s association with distilleries and breweries.

"My work aims to encourage people to think about how they relate to their habitat, whether it's man-made or natural.

"And their connections to local heritage and tradition.”

The exhibition was on Saturday and Sunday, February 2 and 3.
