Today's trip down memory lane takes us back 10 years to when a Dumbarton school received a fantastic report from inspectors.

Here's how we told the story in the Reporter back on Tuesday, January 27, 2009...

A PRIMARY school is rejoicing after receiving a glowing report from inspectors.

Staff and pupils at St Michael’s Primary, in Castlehill, were over the moon at the findings of the HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE).

The school received five very good ratings in the report, including for the commitment of staff and the support they provide for kids, its welcoming ethos and the visionary leadership of its headteacher.

Ross Finnie, MSP for West of Scotland, praised the work at St Michael’s.

He said: “The report on St Michael’s is very impressive and praises the hard work of the teachers and staff.

“Hopefully it will continue to provide a caring and supportive education to pupils in West Dunbartonshire for many years to come.”
