West Dunbartonshire Council leader Jonathan McColl has said the Scottish Government will have to support them over the Clydebank bridge decision.
The councillor was among the members of the infrastructure, regeneration and economic development (IRED) committee who voted unanimously to withdraw their objections to the Renfrewshire Council project.
But he told the Post after the meeting that there is a potential impact on the shopping centre and traffic.
He said councillors of all parties would work and approach the government together for "assistance and support to make sure it doesn't cause the harm we think it will to Clydebank".
Cllr McColl added: "Scottish Government planners have caused this; I think they're going to have a responsibility to help us resolve any of the challenges."
