Teams from 10 local primary and secondary schools took part in an “Into Orbit” challenge with First Lego League at West College Scotland on December 10.
The regional tournament was held at the Clydebank campus in partnership with ESP Scotland and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Kids were encouraged to think like scientists and engineers as they built, tested, and programmed an autonomous robot. Each group was also required to make a project presentation to present to a panel of judges including support from Developing the Young Workforce West region team.
Head of engineering at West College Scotland, Alistair Rodgers, said: “We were delighted to host the First Lego League Event at the Clydebank campus in partnership with ESP Scotland and IET. The enthusiasm that was displayed throughout the day by all of the schools was fantastic to see and rewarding for the staff and volunteers involved in making the day a great success.”
The “Dunard Discoveries” from Dunard Primary in Maryhill fought off fierce competition to win the top prize.
