CLYDEBANK college students didn’t just purchase gifts for their loved ones this year as they donated gifts to families across the world.

Staff and students across West College Scotland’s three campuses had a busy time collecting more than 100 boxes over the festive season for this year’s Blythswood Square Shoebox Appeal.

Participants were asked to find an average shoebox, decide who to fill it for, wrap it up, pack it with items, and deliver it to a collection point.

Each person could choose who to fill the box for – a girl, boy, teenager, man or woman and items such as toiletries, hats and gloves, stationery and toys were asked to be donated.

The shoeboxes received last year were distributed in Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.

Claire Hunter, marketing and PR coordinator at West College Scotland, said: “I was delighted to see staff and students coming together and donating to such a worthy cause.

“Not only did each donator source and wrap a shoe box, but they filled it with items such as toiletries, clothing, food and toys – all items which will bring some happiness to people in need this Christmas.”
