A MAN is to stand trial charged with blowing up a cash machine in Clydebank.
James Deeney is alleged to have carried out the crime at the Farmfoods supermarket in Glasgow Road on January 11 this year.
Prosecutors claim he lit gas, causing an explosion to force open the ATM.
It is said this was done “with intent to steal”.
The 49 year-old, also of Clydebank, faces a separate charge under the Explosive Substances Act.
Defence lawyer Louise Arrol entered a plea of not guilty on Deeney's behalf when he appeared for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.
Lady Stacey set a trial due to begin next May.
Bail for Deeney was continued meantime.
