A CAROL service organised by Clydebank Churches Together got the community into the festive spirit at the weekend.

Music was provided by the Salvation Army Band.

St Stephen’s Primary School choir and Clydemuir Primary School choir both performed songs and recited poems.

Provost William Hendrie attended the service in Clydebank Town Hall on Sunday (December 9) and wished all present a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year during an inspiring speech.

Rev Ishaku Bitrus, convener of Clydebank Churches Together, told the Post: It was no doubt a great carol service and well attended by people of Clydebank.

“One of the carols sung by the schools, ‘Christmas isn’t Christmas’, summed up the Christmas message. The first line of the first verse says, ‘Christmas isn’t Christmas till it happens in your heart’.

“Christmas is not just about the season, the festival, decorations, gifts and Santa, and dinners and parties. It is about love.”
