CLYDEBANK’S Y Sort It was awarded £10,000 as part of the CashBack for Creativity programme, which redistributes the proceeds of crime to benefit Scotland’s young people.

Applications for the final round of funding are now open, with up to £300,000 to be invested in community-based arts projects.

The programme is administered by Creative Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government and creates access to high-quality arts activities for young people aged 10 to 24.

Y Sort It has already been awarded £10,000 to support the provision of creative activities including drama, filmmaking, music, and the creation of a community mural.

Clydebank MSP Gil Paterson praised the group as “invaluable.”

Mr Paterson said: “I’m really pleased to hear about this money going to Y Sort It. They work in our communities with a wide variety of groups such as young mothers, LGBTI young people and young carers. Their efforts are invaluable, and they are well deserving of this support.

“I would encourage other groups in the area to apply for money from this fund and put the proceeds of crime to good use for our young people.”

The deadline for applications is on Friday, January 25 and details of how to apply can be found at: youthlinkscotland.org/funding/cashback-for-communities/cashback-for-creativity-open-fund.
