A CONTRACT worth almost £100,000 has been awarded to run 16 vending machines in West Dunbartonshire's high schools.

The council's tendering committee approved Selecta UK Ltd to oversee the leased machines across the five secondary schools.

The £99,700.40 contract will be for three years with an option to be extended until November 2023. The firm currently employs 20 staff around Glasgow and pays the living wage.

They made a commitment to support local sponsorship opportunities and sports teams with one-off supply of products for events.

And Selecta said it would be able to accommodate the council's bid to cut single use plastics.

Last week's tendering committee also approved a contract for about £795,000 for the provision of heavy goods vehicles (HGV) and refuse collection vehicles (RCV).

Imperial Commericals Ltd, from Glasgow, was given the contract for three years to replace five heavy vehicles in total. The cost was approved in the council budget in March.
