MORE than 150 people gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Clydebank Rotary Club.

The kind-hearted Rotarians and guests enjoyed a grand dinner in the Golden Jubilee Hotel on Friday, October 26.

Among the special guests who attended were Provost Hendrie, local MSP Gil Paterson and one of the founder members, Reverend Alex Cunningham.

And a former Rotarian, Baroness Annabel Goldie, spoke at the event where she outlined and praised the Clydebank club’s fundraising efforts.

The club’s district governor Jim Ross highlighted the spirit among members and supporters and the club ethos of “doing good while having fun” was highlighted throughout the evening.

More than £1,400 was raised in a raffle to support the club’s charity of the year, Bankie Talk.

Colin O’Brien, president of Clydebank Rotary, told the Post: “This event and our whole anniversary year is showing us just how much support is given to the club by the wider Clydebank community, now and throughout the years, for which we are very grateful.”

Meetings are held at the Clydebank and District Golf Club in Hardgate on Fridays from 12.45-2pm.
