A STALWART supporter of Macmillan coffee days in Dumbarton has been named “Wonder Woman” by the organisers.

Nan Wilson has earned the title for the support she gives to the coffee days held at the Vale Centre for Health and Care.

Sheenah Nelson, chairman of Macmillan’s Vale of Leven fundraising committee, said: “We have christened Nan our Wonder Woman. She is 95 years old and comes along each year for her flu jag with trays of home baking for our stall.

“Nan manages to do this even though she is partially sighted.

“She really is an amazing lady and we are all very fond of her.”

The Macmillan coffee days raised £928.43 from donations and a raffle.

Sheenah said: “This event wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic support that our committee get from the community.

“Throughout the clinics, Macmillan volunteers are also on hand to give advice and signpost anyone who needs help or support to the appropriate agency.

“Macmillan information and support drop-in services can also be found in local libraries as well as at the Vale Centre for Health and Care.”

Sheenah thanked practice managers and staff of the health centre for their help in making this such a successful event.

All funds raised locally will be used to provide services and support for local cancer patients and their families.

The next event is the Marion Gallacher Christmas lunch and bazaar in the Abbotsford Hotel, taking place on Sunday, December 2.
