A KILCREGGAN teenager will be sentenced early in the New Year after he admitted a charge of assault.
Douglas McKnight, 19, of Mayfield Cottage, Argyll Road, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court for a review of his case on October 26 after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to carrying out the attack on January 13.
McKnight had admitted shouting, swearing, threatening violence and seizing a family member by the neck and compressing it.
His pleas of not guilty to two other charges, alleging that he assaulted another man by trying to punch him on the head, seize him, push and pull him and cause him to fall to the ground, and that he damaged a wall by punching it, had previously been accepted by the Crown.
Defence lawyer Scott Adair told the court that sentence had been deferred on McKnight six months ago for him to be of good behaviour.
Sheriff Simon Pender deferred sentence further until January 9, 2019, to await the outcome of other matters. McKnight’s bail was continued.
