Organisers of a Hallowe’en-themed coffee morning at St Augustine’s Community Hall concocted the perfect potion for success on Saturday.

The Witches’ Brew raised around £300 for church funds, while another room with an art display and a Bewitched Beauty Boutique selling jewellery also raised money for St Augustine’s Food for Thought and St Mungo’s Church in Alexandria respectively.

The coffee morning was very well attended and included an unlucky dip, a trick or treat tombola, a spirits and bottle stall and a haunted homebaking stall serving up some devilishly delectable baked goods.

Janette Barnes, vice chair person of Friend’s of St Augustine’s who organised the event, said: “It went really well. It was a very successful morning and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was well attended and busy all morning, so everyone was very happy.”
