A Renfrewshire taxi firm has become increasingly concerned about the welfare of its drivers after a series of incidents involving stones being thrown at cars in Paisley.

Renfrewshire Cab Company have received several reports of stones being thrown at cars in Blackstoun Road and near Tannahill Centre in the town, with many suggesting that the culprits are antisocial youths.

As a result, some of the drivers at the firm have refused to work this area.

The firm said on social media: "We are again getting reports of stones being thrown at cars in the Blackstoun Rd/Tannahill Centre.

"Our drivers are naturally concerned about passing this area and the roundabout right next to it.

"Some drivers are refusing work in this area because of it also!"

Despite the growing concerns, the firm are keen for the parents of those involved to step in and prevent further incidents.

The Gazette:

If something isn't done, the firm have suggested that eventually drivers will no longer cover that area.

Outraged locals have also voiced their concerns about the area and condemned the antisocial behaviour.

Noreen McHugh wrote: "Will end up there will be no public transport in certain areas and I don't blame taxis or bus companies one bit, why should they have to keep forking out for windows and damage. These idiots throwing stones are going to kill somebody one day!"

Joanne Green said: "They hit my car. Scared the life out of me. And chipped my windscreen. Disgusting behaviour."

The firm is asking anyone who may know the culprits to contact their parents in the first instance.
