A FAIFLEY man who caused a rammy and struck a door repeatedly with a hammer has been put under social work supervision.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard last Friday how David Brand, 44, of Faifley Road, shouted and swore and acted in an aggressive manner to his partner and a 14-year-old.

He repeatedly struck a door with a hammer and pushed his partner on the body, causing her to stumble.

Brand was granted bail at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on July 4, 2018, with the special condition not to enter Faifley Road or contact or communicate with either of the victims. But the court heard how he breached the court order four days later.

Prosecutor Kara Watt said: “It happened at 12.30am. Brand had been consuming alcohol. He jumped up and pushed his partner on the body and then struck a door several times with a hammer.”

The hammer was produced in court and shown to Sheriff Kevin Duffy.

Ms Watt went on: “Brand was traced and told police he had done nothing wrong. He was taken to Clydebank police office where he was cautioned and charged. He replied ‘this is bulls***’.”

Defence lawyer Scott Adair said: “The report sets out there is a focus for supervision and he is willing to carry out a community payback order (CPO). The parties want to resume their relationship. He pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity.”

Sheriff Duffy said: “This is a serious matter, aggravated by the fact you then breached bail. I am persuaded that the matter can be dealt with by a community based disposal as an alternative to custody.”

Brand was put under supervision for 18 months and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work within six months. He was also ordered to undergo the 16-week Pair Programme for perpetrators of domestic violence.
