A CLYDEBANK thug who left a man with a cut to his head after attacking him outside Club Mango will be sentenced next week.

Stefan Tait, 24, of Gran Street, Whitecrook, previously admitted assaulting his victim outside the Dumbarton Road nightspot on January 28.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard on Friday how Tait repeatedly punched his victim on the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

Prosecutor Kara Watt said: “At 3.30am his victim had been at Mango Night Club.

“Outside he was punched on the head by Tait who then ran off. Police and ambulance were contacted. Tait was traced a short distance away.

“His victim suffered a cut above his right eye which was treated by paramedics.”

Defence lawyer Judith Reid said: “When my client saw the CCTV of the incident, he was ashamed and quite distressed and disgusted with himself. He has not had a drink in the past two months.

“He has quite a serious record from his younger days but has not been in trouble for some time. I would suggest he be put on supervision to keep him on the straight and narrow.”

Sentence was deferred until October 26 to obtain a full social background report, with particular focus on his ability to do unpaid work and to be put on a tagging order.

Tait’s bail was continued until then.
