AN UP-AND-COMING band from Clydebank are holding a live music event to bring the community together whilst raising money for charity.

The Fences, consisting of Aidan Butler, Aidan Rowan, Brendan Bean, Gabriel Kielty and Jack McCue, have organised the gig in John Browns Bar on November 2 and will be donating £2 of each ticket sold to Macmillan Cancer Support and The Beatson.

The band members, all from Clydebank and aged between 18-20, have been performing together since January this year and are already on their way to “take over the Scottish music scene, with their passionate and energetic sound”, according to their first review from Beat Media.

The Seams, another band from Clydebank, and Connor McFall from Dumbarton, will also be playing on the night.

Gabriel Kielty, 20, said: “We want to see more positive stories about Clydebank and good news for the area. The event will have a local theme to it.

“It’s going to be brilliant and there will be a good sense of community. It is all local bands and musicians playing which is something Clydebank hasn’t seen in a while.”

“Cancer affects someone everyone knows basically, and we saw this gig as an opportunity to help and give back to the charities that provide support to the people going through it.”

The five young men all work or study full-time but still find the time to practice in the studio on evenings and perform at gigs during the weekends.

The band already have a number of their own songs including “Red Eye Rebecca”, “This is Living”, and “Going Under” that they perform along with one or two covers to get the audience singing along.

Food will also be collected on the night for a local foodbank.

The Fences told the Post: “It’s going to be a fantastic night of great music and great atmosphere. There’s of course the charity aspect which will be great for everyone to do their bit towards and feel positive about.

“And hopefully the night might convince some people who normally would only go to larger gigs to support local acts in smaller venues.”

Cara Inglis, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for West of Scotland, added: “It’s Macmillan’s ambition to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and we can’t do that without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

I would like to thank The Fences for organising such a fantastic event. What a brilliant way to raise funds and we hope this will inspire many other people to get involved and support Macmillan.”
