She said she’s always loved Scotland but admitted she apparently made two faux pas when she was here for a wedding in Glasgow, along with Bodyguard actor Richard Madden.

Nigella, who posted pictures of the wedding breakfast consisting of Buckfast, as well as pictures of her eating Blue Lagoon chips, admitted she thought Buckfast was Scottish – but has since discovered it’s made by monks in Devon.

And secondly that she should have given some of Glasgow’s other respected chippies a go and not necessarily settled at the Blue Lagoon.

She said: ”It’s not my fault. I was told it was Scottish.”

Re The Blue Lagoon, the telly chef said she enjoyed her visit, but added: “I was sent there by two Glaswegians, but everyone else told me I went to the worst chippy!”
