Train users in Dumbarton and the Vale are facing cancellations and delays this evening due to a signalling fault.

There is currently a problem with the signalling system at Bellgrove station prompting the disruption, which is expected to last until 8pm tonight.

Lines through Dumbarton Central and Dumbarton East to Balloch, Cumbernauld, Helensburgh Central, Edinburgh and Airdrie via Singer all appear to be affected by cancellations or delays.

Train users at Alexandria are also affected by delays to trains to Balloch and Airdrie via Singer.

Train tickets are being accepted on First Glasgow buses Between Glasgow, Bellgrove, Duke Street, Alexandra Parade, Barnhill, Springburn and Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston via Stepps on bus numbers 8, 38, 41, 60/A, X3.

An announcement on the Scotrail website said: “We are dealing with a signalling issue at Bellgrove, this is affecting services between Springburn and Queen St low level.

“Our staff are on site and require further access to the track to effect repair. Once we have more information from the ground we will keep you updated.”
