COUNCIL bosses are investigating an allegation of theft of dinner money from a school.

West Dunbartonshire Council’s audit committee next week will hear the issue was raised on June 27 and the investigation is “in progress”.

A second allegation of misuse of school funds was filed the next day and it is also “in progress”.

The report on “whistleblowing” reports and internal audit investigations states an allegation in April about the professionalism of a school teacher was unfounded, while an allegation of theft by a council employee was still being investigated.

Concerns about payment of professional subscriptions are still being looked at and an allegation of misuse of council materials and a vehicle were unfounded.

A concern raised in July 2017 about corruption and bullying was unfounded.

In total, there were only two whistleblowing cases in the first six months of 2018, compared to seven in the previous six months.

A concern raised about misuse of funds by a group meeting at a school was not investigated as council funds were not involved.
