A CLYDEBANK super slimmer is walking on air after a life-changing weight loss.

Rosanna Elliott says she is now happier and has more energy after shedding a whopping 7st 4lb after attending local slimming group every Saturday.

Two-and-a-half years ago, Rosanna tipped the scales at 18st 10lb so she turned for help to Slimming World fearing her weight was putting her health at risk.

Now her effort has been rewarded as she has been named Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2018 at the Clydebank Saturday group.

Rosanna told the Post she piled on the weight amid a period of health problems and post-natal depression.

She said: “I’ve had a poor relationship with food since childhood and have been overweight most of my life.

“I was doing really well losing weight after my second child, but started to put on weight during a horrendous period of post-natal depression.

“Everything was overwhelming and I wasn’t in a healthy mind-set to focus or cope with anything.

“Due to the amount of times I gained and lost weight over the years I put my health at risk and ended up with extremely painful gallstone attacks and had an operation to remove my gall bladder. I tried lots of different ways to lose weight but they usually left me feeling hungry or miserable – or both, in fact.

“With Slimming World it’s completely different.”

Rosanna, who has gone from a dress size 24 to a 12, added: “Losing weight has made a huge difference to me. My mental and physical health are in the best shape they have ever been.”

Rosanna says family and friends are all amazed by how much she can eat and still lose weight. I still eat many of the same meals that I did before I started losing weight. Now I just prepare and cook them differently – and they taste so much better.

“I know a lot of people worry about joining a slimming club because they don’t know what to expect. Right from the first moment I walked into my Slimming World group I felt comfortable.”

Rosanna has now been chosen to represent the Clydebank group in the nationwide Slimming World Woman of the Year 2018 competition, which aims to find the UK and Ireland’s most inspiring female slimmer. She will go forward to the regional finals of the competition, putting her in the running for the national title.

The national Slimming World Woman of the Year 2018 will be announced in November with the winner taking home £3,000 or a five-day holiday in Mexico.

Laura Martin, who runs the Craigbank Masonic Saturday group, says: “I’m so proud of Rosanna. She’s a fantastic ambassador for Slimming World and what she’s achieved is nothing short of incredible.”

The Clydebank Saturday Slimming World group is held every Saturday at 8am, 10am and 12pm at the Craigbank Masonic, 31 Canal Street.
