ONE third of roads in West Dunbartonshire need maintenance every year.
According to council figures, 33.8 per cent needed work in 2017, down slightly on the previous three years and mostly affecting C-class or unclassified roads.
The council’s infrastructure, regeneration and economic development committee on August 22 was told the authority’s plan for the next five years includes inspections of roads and bridges, commissioning a flood protection study for the River Leven and trialling new eco-friendly road materials.
All lighting, footpaths, roads and other structures in the area depreciate by more than £6.6million each year.
The roundabout at Kilbowie Road and the A82 is set to have works in November.
