More than £1,700 was raised for two local charities following last month’s open day at Dumbarton police station.
In a nod to the “year of young people”, CHAS and Y Sort It have received £882.50 each following the successful event, which saw around 2,000 residents head to the station to meet the local heroes of our emergency responders.
The cash was raised through raffle ticket sales, canteen sales and various donation boxes on the day.
Money was also raised for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity through sales of teddy bears, police outfits for the kids and other police related memorabilia, with the total hitting £1,229.50, making a total of £2,994.50 overall raised for the three charities.
PC Tracy Melvin, of Dumbarton police office, said it was a “massive achievement”, and expressed her thanks to all who attended the open day.
The day also welcomed firefighters, police dogs and horses and paramedics mountain rescue teams.
