Clydebank Rotary Club has appointed the town’s former high school rector as its new president.

Colin O’Brien received the new chains of office from previous president, Ron Orr, at a recent meeting of the organisation in Clydebank and District Golf Club at Hardgate.

The new president is no stranger to Clydebank, having worked from 1984 to 2000 as head teacher at the high school. He has been a dedicated member of Clydebank Rotary Club for many years.

Reflecting on his new role, Colin said: “I’m really looking forward to the year ahead as the club gears up to an extra special celebration, its 50th anniversary.

“To mark the golden jubilee, we are pleased to be launching a special project in partnership with local charity, Bankie Talk, which supports blind and partially sighted members of our community with a variety of talking newspapers.

“Club members will be raising vital funds to help buy new equipment for the charity.”

The club will also continue its ongoing support for a range of groups and projects, as well as providing annual commitments to Erskine St Margaret’s and to the Purple4Polio campaign.

Clydebank Rotary Club meets at 12.45pm on Friday afternoons in Clydebank and District Golf Club.
