TWO men brandished knives as they tried to rob a Whitecrook shop on Saturday.

The two would-be thieves – described as having scarves over their face and their hoods up – entered Lifestyle Express on Webster Street just before 4pm on June 9.

They showed the weapons to the 39-year-old shop owner and demanded money.

However, they were startled and made off when a member of the public entered the store.

Police were contacted shortly afterwards and are carrying out enquiries.

Members of the public who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously at the time are encouraged to contact Clydebank police station on 101.
