COUNCILLORS have agreed a “team building” day out on Loch Lomond for social workers was “inappropriate”.
The Post reported exclusively on how 35 members of the criminal justice social work team went on the trip including a speedboating excursion and lunch at a cost of £2,250.
West Dunbartonshire Council admitted it was “inappropriate use of funds” and they were taking steps so it didn’t happen again.
In the middle of a debate on pay for low paid female employees at last week’s full council meeting, Councillor David McBride raised the issue of the social work day out and questioned if it was acceptable.
Councillor Caroline McAllister replied: “I don’t think it’s an acceptable use of public money.”
Cllr McBride asked: “Who will take responsibility and offer their resignation?”
There was no reply.
