POLICE have moved to ease fears of parents over a white van reportedly seen near Kilbowie Primary School.

A child was said to have been alarmed by the actions of a man running through the grounds of the Clydebank school just before 6.30pm on Sunday, May 6.

However, a white van seen in the area was a local authority vehicle and not in fact related to this incident.

Inspector Allan Dickson, of Clydebank Community Police Team, assured reports are taken seriously but said they are “absolutely satisfied” the man was not linked to the white van.

He said: “Extensive enquiry has been carried out into this matter, including a full review of public space CCTV, which has confirmed that a white van parked at this location was a local authority vehicle – and not connected to this incident.

“There was no other van in the vicinity at the material time. Police Scotland will always take such reports seriously and we are aware that there has been significant speculation on social media regarding this white van.

“We are absolutely satisfied that this male observed within the school was not linked to any vehicle.”

Concerns regarding any incident should be reported to Police Scotland via 101.
