A CONSULTATION has been launched into plans for social housing on the site of the former St Andrew’s High School in Clydebank.

The site has already been earmarked for 120 new homes as part of an ambitious goal of 1,000 new homes for rent across West Dunbartionshire.

Cube Housing Association and the council are working on the joint development.

Now residents are being consulted on the pre-planning application for the school site and the former janitor’s house at John Knox Street ahead of formal bids to redevelop the site with work required on access, engineering and landscaping.

A public drop-in exhibition will be held on Tuesday, June 13, from 3pm to 7pm in Clydebank Town Hall. Members of the design team and others will be on hand. Comments can also be made to Susanne McNaught, architectural officer at the council, on 01389 737877, or by email to Susanne.mcnaught@west-dunbarton.gov.uk. All comments should be submitted by July 17 but this is not a formal planning application yet and there will be separate consultation when it is made.
