WEST Dunbartonshire Council has opened their new office for the public in the centre of Clydebank.

The local authority moved one street east from Kilbowie Road to Sylvania Way South, joining the B-listed Co-op building.

The new ground-floor centre replaces the former office at Rosebery Place.

As well as help with jobs, housing and benefits, all other council services will be available to Bankies at West Dunbartonshire’s “One Stop Shop”.

Councillors touted the new office as the latest development, including their new Aurora House at Queen’s Quay and the new Clydebank Sports Centre, opening in the coming months.

Councillor Patrick McGlinchey, convener for infrastructure and regeneration, said: “It is fantastic to be able to officially open this new facility in the heart of Clydebank town centre and in such a well-known landmark building.

“The One Stop Shop will give residents every council service they could possibly need under one roof and in a location that is easy for them to get to.

“When we agreed a few years ago to invest £19m into creating new council office buildings, improving the delivery of service to our residents was at the forefront of our thinking.

“This facility is a great example of that commitment.”
