THE only thing more variable than the weather last week was the range of activities to keep young Bankies distracted.

Park Lives West Dunbartonshire started earlier this month and runs until the end of August and our photographer caught youths in action on the hottest day of the year.

From frisbee golf to old-school games, football, rounders and dodgeball, the free activities are designed to promote physical activity while schools are off - and as the world prepares to celebrate the best of sport at the Summer Olympics in Rio in August.

Y Sort It manager Gillian Kirkwood said: “Learning a new sport or kids’ outdoor activities could should cost a fortune this summer. But thanks to Park Lives, it won’t."

The activities continue in the play park of East Thomson Street in Clydebank every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and Fridays from 7pm to 8.30pm.

There are also sessions on Mondays and Fridays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in Balloch Park.
