The facility was recently handed the Cycle Friendly Employer Award developed by Cycle Scotland after demonstrating a continuous dedication to increasing the number of employees who peddle to their job.

Following an extensive evaluation process, the award was presented to the Golden Jubilee’s chairwoman Jeane Freeman and performance and planning lead Birgit Clark by Gerry Mitchell, Travel Choice Advisor from the Bike Station.

Jeane said: “The Golden Jubilee National Hospital is committed to ensuring that we are not only an environmentally friendly organisation but that we do all we can to help our staff lead active and healthy working lives, so we are thrilled to be officially recognised as a Cycle Friendly Employer.

“It is well documented that cycling to work can have an extremely positive impact on your overall health and wellbeing, reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and decreasing stress levels, not to mention the environmental advantages it offers.”
