Residents will now be able to visit one place to pay their rent, make a housing application, register a birth or seek support to find a job.

The One Stop Shop on Kilbowie Road also offers access to benefits and debt advice, planning, licensing, environmental and trading standards.

The service is designed to offer a vibrant and welcoming environment for delivery of face to face customer services, and includes self-serve machines to pay for council tax, rent and services such as pest control. There is also a suite of PCs to enable residents to access online services such as planning, housing repairs and leisure bookings.

Council staff are on hand to assist with various requests including help with benefits and job applications. Residents who have complex enquiries can discuss their case in detail with staff in one of five confidential meeting rooms.

Customer service staff can also arrange for officers from specific services across the council to come to the One Stop Shop for face to face meetings to help find solutions to any issues residents may have. The council is also working in partnership with key agencies including Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to continuously improve and develop the activity and services offered in One Stop Shops.

Councillor Kath Ryall, convener of Corporate Services, said: “This is the second of three planned One Stop Shops for West Dunbartonshire. The response from our residents to this new facility has been very positive. The whole idea behind these new centres is to make it easier to access council services and receive advice and support.”
