MACROBERT Arts Centre is taking up residence in a marquee beside the Engine Shed, to bring Cycle Cinema to the heart of Stirling on Sunday, August 12.

There are two segments to this day-long Festival 2018 cultural programme event for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

The first features coverage of the championships screened from 10.30am and the second, at 6pm, is a screening of Time Trial – the newly released film about cyclist David Millar and his final shot at the Tour de France.

Everyone is welcome at the Cycle Cinema marquee, located beside the Engine Shed, to enjoy live coverage of some of the best sports-themed documentaries at the Championships from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

More importantly, some significant pedal-power is required to power the big-screen projector, so cyclists of all ages and experiences will be particularly welcome.

Lycra-clad pros, commuters, weekend riders – anyone can get involved.

There will be cycles especially for children, a hand crank and of course, everyone will be able to watch the big-screen entertainment while they pedal.

The Engine Shed are having a special Sunday opening to coincide with the Cycle Cinema event, offering people the chance to enjoy their usual exhibitions as well as to host stalls for a selection of local organisations with a focus on cycling.

Their café will be open throughout the day and evening for refreshments too.

A highlight of the day is an evening screening of the new documentary featuring David Millar, Time Trial. Screening at 6pm, bookings are already busy, but there is still time to enjoy a truly immersive showing of this fantastic documentary.

Book in advance on the Macrobert Arts Centre website – www.macrobertartscentre.org – or call the box office on 01786 466 666.

Festival 2018 will run alongside the sporting action and into many parts of Scotland, to offer an exciting cultural experience to residents and the thousands of athletes, visitors and media who will be in Scotland for the first-ever European Championships in August 2018.

Cycle Cinema is supported by Festival 2018, Stirling Council and Historic Environment Scotland.
