Alexander Eric Mc Arthur

McARTHUR - Alexander Eric We are very saddened to announce the tragic passing of Alexander Eric McArthur MBE aged 86. Known to all as Eric, he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to his beloved wife and was this year awarded an MBE for his contributions to the world of beekeeping. He was loved by many and had a large extended family which included two sons, four daughters and eight grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Eric was born in Perthshire and enjoyed a successful career in both the merchant navy and the ship building industry. In his youth he was a champion cyclist and still to this day used his Flying Scot. He was a talented linguist, his favourite being German. He campaigned tirelessly for the SNP and championed many environmental causes throughout his life. His passion however was beekeeping learned at his father's knee. He was much admired for his rigorous good health and swore by honey as a cure for all ails. He could spin a good yarn and was said to have forgotten more about beekeeping than any of us could ever learn. His funeral will be for immediate family only but a link will be made available for all who would like to attend virtually.
