Yoker Athletic manager Steven Reilly says the league opener against Wishaw is more important than their derby game in the League Cup against Clydebank tonight.

The Whe-ho are out of the competition after a 4-1 defeat to Glasgow Perthshire and 3-2 loss to Maryhill, and face the Bankies tonight in the last game.

But after a shorter pre-season due to finishing later than teams last season, Reilly admits his side are still feeling the effects of the previous campaign.

He said: “The main priority is the Wishaw game, we just want to get through Wednesday’s game unscathed and put a good performance on against Clydebank.

“We just want to go out there and perform and make it hard for Clydebank. We know how tough it’s going to be, but we need to put a good show on and take some confidence into our league game on Saturday.”

James Ross and Jamie Carson are both doubts for tonight’s game at Holm Park, with calf and shoulder injuries respectively.

But Reilly is expecting former Clydebank defender Rab O’Neill to return against his former side tonight, after the defender was rested on Saturday.

He said: “Rab was feeling his groin a bit but should be fit for Wednesday. He’s played a lot of football for us so far and he’s done well.

“James Carson is still struggling with a shoulder injury, James Ross might be back next Monday, they’re the only two missing out.”

Saturday’s game against Wishaw kicks-off at 2pm at Holm Park.
