YOKER’S assistant manager Graeme George has been left frustrated by his side’s defending after their 4-3 loss to Shettleston last Saturday.

The Ton have now gone on a 16-game unbeaten run over 90 minutes as they continue their climb up the table, with the result leaving them in ninth position.

The Whe-Ho have now lost their last four games, after a positive start, and will be hoping they can get that away to Girvan on Saturday.

George said: “Very frustrating. Losing very poor goals, it was defensive mistakes. Just guys you don’t expect to be making mistakes and it’s frustrating. It’s normally guys that you can rely on and that’s what makes it worse.

“It’s now four games in a row we’ve lost but we’ve scored eight goals in those games , so we’re scoring enough, we’re just losing far too many.

“You can see why they’re on a good run, they do the simple things well in a game. They’ve got good experience in the side, ex-senior players in the side.

“Girvan have played less games than anyone else because of their involvement in the early rounds of the Scottish Senior Cup, and have only lost one game [in the league] so far.”

The Yoker assistant also confirmed defender Alan Cairns has left the club, while confirming they are looking to sign one more player shortly.

He added: “Cairns has moved on. He was frustrated at the lack of game time here and we’re hopeful that we can get one more player in. It’s a wee bit late at this stage.

“It’s not necessarily like for like and we’ll hopefully see that develop in the next week or two.”
