CLYDEBANK manager Budgie McGhie admits his side will need no extra motivation to take three points in Saturday’s derby with Yoker Athletic at Holm Park.

With bragging rights on the line, both sets of fans will be relishing the clash. Both sides have enjoyed a good start to the season, Yoker’s only defeat came in last Saturday’s tie with Cumbernauld United, while they progressed in the Scottish Cup after a 5-1 win at Aberdeen side Sunnybank on Saturday.

The Bankies have made the perfect start to their Super League First campaign with four wins from four putting them top of the league. With that in mind, McGhie insists there is plenty more on the line for his side than derby bragging rights.

Despite Clydebank’s 2-0 win in the Sectional League Cup the last time the sides met, McGhie expects a tough examination from Steven Reilly’s side.

He said: “It is a derby but I think the most important thing is we keep our good run going. It wouldn’t matter if it was Yoker or anyone else, there is plenty of incentives there to go out and perform well.

“Yoker still have a lot of players from last year and they have added players since the Sectional League Cup game. I expect a tough game, I think Yoker will do well this year, I wouldn’t read too much into the Cumbernauld game, these things can happen.

“That won’t have any bearing on the match on Saturday. I’m actually expecting a harder game on Saturday, not to say the Sectional game wasn’t difficult but if anything I’m expecting more of a test.” Clydebank had some injury concerns after last week’s 2-0 win over Shotts Bon Accord at Hannah Park. Joel Kasubandi and Andy Paterson went off injured while Nicky Little and Jordan Shelvey were nursing knocks.

However McGhie revealed he expects almost a full compliment on Saturday, however there was bad news on Paterson who could be sidelined for a month.

He said: “Wee Andy has got a sore one, he has knock on his foot and could be out for a month or so, that’s what the physio reckons. Joel is ok, Jordan had a wee knock but he should be ok. Nicky Little had a slight strain so didn’t train last week but he should be ok for Yoker.”
