CLYDEBANK midfielder Adam Strachan believes the top junior sides could easily match some of the Scottish Football League's teams.

Strachan is more than qualified to make the comparison having played at both junior and senior level.

The 24-year-old played in the SFL for seven years and starred for clubs including Partick Thistle, Clyde and Ross County.

Strachan is now delighted to be coming up against the best sides in Super Premier League and reckons they could be more than a match for some of Scotland's senior outfits.

He said: "This is the first time I have played junior football. I have found it is the parks and facilities that are a big difference.

"I have spoken to a few boys and they say this season is the best standard of football in Junior football because there are senior players dropping into Junior football.

"There isn't a big difference. I think a lot of the Junior teams would beat third division sides and they don't get the same crowds."

Strachan, who is on a short-term deal at Holm Park, has played seven times for the Bankies and has got his name on the scoresheet on four occasions this season.

Strachan believes there is a big difference in the players' confidence since he arrived in the autumn.

He added: "It has been good so far. They are a young team and I think playing in the Super Premier League is a learning curve for them.

"The confidence in the team has improved. When I came in at first the confidence was quite low.

"Now that we have played every team, I think everybody knows playing in the league isn't as hard as they thought as first.

"They have really grown in confidence."

Weather permitting, Clydebank take on Arthurlie at Dunterlie Park, kick-off 1.45pm.
