TOUGH AT THE TOP: Charlie Hobbs couldn't find the target in their defeat against Ashfield
BANKIES boss Budgie McGhie admits his side need to shore up at the back - but is refusing to push the panic button following their fourth league defeat.
McGhie was hoping his side could build on their 5-4 victory against Pollok on Saturday against last season's promotion rivals Ashfield.
But the Bankies dropped another three points at Holm Park and McGhie is in no doubt the problem lies with their defence.
The Holm Park gaffer took a few positives from the game, especially the introduction of debut boy John Greig and the performance of young stopper Ian Gold.
Budgie McGhie said: "It is disappointing. It wasn't all doom and gloom.
"We need to defend better, there's no getting away from that. We need to either work with the guys we've already got or look at bringing somebody else in.
"Young John Greig can be pleased with his performance and I thought the young keeper's followed on from his debut against Pollok with an excellent display.
"With his performance he didn't deserve to be on the losing team. If anyone thought we were going to come into this league and win our first four or five games would be optimistic.
"Some of our play was decent and we were playing well on the ball but all our good play is being washed away because we are conceding so easily. But we have never been outplayed and it has never had our backs to the wall."
