Bankies can be best bar none
CLYDEBANK will go head-to-head with Ashfield on Saturday for the honour of lifting the Super League First Division title.
The Saracen Park side defeated Hurlford United 5-2 on Monday night and that sets up a nail-biting finale for the Bankies in their last league game of the season.
Budgie McGhie's men have already wrapped up promotion this season after their recent win at Bellshill.
But Bankies favourite Barry Crawford revealed the whole squad are desperate to go one better and lift the trophy on Saturday.
He said: "Promotion was definitely my biggest achievement in football but we now want to go one step further.
"We are looking forward to the Ashfield game and it would be great to lift the trophy. We were still training this week even though we weren't playing. There are a few players out injured and tired because of the mad fixture schedule so the break has come at a good time."
Clydebank manager McGhie told Sport Scene yesterday (Tuesday): "Obviously it all adds up to what could be an exciting day. Ashfield have done really well to keep their promotion hopes alive.
"They haven't secured promotion yet so a win for them would give them promotion.
"We only need a draw but there's no way we'll be playing for a point because that's not in our nature.
"It will be an attractive game and any neutral could do no better than head down to Yoker on Saturday."
Clydebank against Ashfield kicks off at 2pm on Saturday at Holm Park.
