AFTER narrowly missing out on promotion back to the Super League Premier Division, Clydebank have moved quickly to secure their squad for next season.

Manager Budgie McGhie opted to recruit largely younger players last season in the hope of keeping the bulk of the squad together for a few years.

He has made a good start to that with 14 players having already committed for next season. However Ryan Holms and Graham Mort won’t be back next term.

Holms has retired to concentrate on his music career while Graham Mort has left the club due to work commitments.

The following players have all re-signed for next season: Johnny Allan, Phil Barclay, Hashim Cole, Greg Cree, Calum Gow, Robbie Halliday, Josh Lumsden, Jamie Lyden, Danny MacKinnon, Rab O’Neill, Andy Paterson, Jordan Shelvey, Alan Vezza and Stevie Young.

Talks are ongoing with other players with more signings expected to be confirmed this week.

It will be a nailbiting wait for Bankies fans as they await news on last season’s top performers in particular.

Nicky Little finished the season with an impressive 21 goals, the club’s top scorer. While Mark Burbidge was Clydebank’s star man for most of the season.

Both players will have attracted attention from other clubs but McGhie will be keen for them to stay at Clydebank. Robert Tiropoulos and Joel Kasubandi are yet to sign while Derek Carcary’s future remains in doubt after he failed to make an appearance last season.
