Savage crowned Scottish champ
TITLE: David lands a Savage blow
A CLINICAL performance from David Savage on Friday night saw him lift the Scottish super bantamweight title.
The 23-year-old, from Scotstoun, was cheered on by a vocal support - who chanted his name throughout the fight.
And when the referee lifted Savage's arm aloft in the final round his dad and trainer, David Snr, ran into the ring to embrace his battling champion.
And in a successful night of boxing, the other two fighters from the area also chalked up victories.
The self-styled Clydebank Blitz Gary McArthur looked ring-rusty, but did enough against his English opponent to scrape home with a narrow points victory.
While Jamie McLevy, from Whiteinch, continued the impressive start to his professional career which saw him extend his unbeaten record.
The capacity crowd at the Bellahouston Sports Centre, in Glasgow, enjoyed a total of eight fights throughout the evening - which were broadcast on Sky Sports in the aftermath of Lee McAllister's big Commonwealth title defence.
