CLYDEBANK Rugby Club returned to training and have begun preparations for the new season.

Local rivals Loch Lomond will be the first opponents in Clydebank's first competitive league game of the season, set to begin at the end of August.

But for those who simply cannot wait for the new league campaign, Clydebank Rugby Club have arranged a number of events over the coming weeks.

The club will host their annual Fun Day, in Whitecrook, where the players will all take part in a series of individual and team events to raise team morale and to get the lads back into game mode.

The day promises to be a fun day out for all the family and will take place on August 1.

The following week is the Clydebank Annual Tens Tournament where 12 local rugby clubs will compete for a total of three trophies.

The matches will start at 1pm on the Saturday afternoon and there will be food and entertainment provided throughout the day including demonstrations from the Pamela Hendry Dance Group.

Clydebank Rugby Club invite everyone to come along and enjoy the sport and local entertainment.

And to make sure they are ready for kick off, Clydebank will play trial matches against Allan Glens and Hamilton 2nd XV.

This summer has already been eventful for the local rugby side as the annual golf tournament was held last weekend at the Dalmuir golf course.

David Bell, who scored so well on the field for Clydebank won the event with a nett score of 74, just ahead of the other contenders.

Also, the club recently celebrated its 40th birthday as members from past and present gathered at the Beardmore Hotel to reminisce and exchange stories of the club's past.
