PRIOR to Saturday's first competitive match, Clydebank returned to pre-season training.

The side played in two pre-season friendlies and an annual 10s tournament.

Under the guidance of new club coach, David Miller, the squad have been training hard to be fit for the challenge that lies ahead in West Division Two.

The club also have a new captain, Euan Cuthbert, who said: "Pre-season has went really well and we have seen great improvements in not only fitness but also individual performances.

"Ideally this year we would want to be near the top challenging for the league after a poor season last year. "I'm looking forward to leading the team as captain and hope to lead by example on and off the park." In the first warm-up game the red and blacks took on Allan Glens who play in the division above Clydebank. The Bishopbriggs side ran out comfortable winners, however, the Bank played some nice rugby with Andy Lyle scoring the pick of tries and the game was about performance and getting the fitness levels up, and for periods of the game Bank outplayed their opponents.

For the club's own 10s tournament, the Bank entered two teams, with the 'A' team winning two games and drawing another to reach the final, only to eventually be beaten by champions Stirling County.

The 'B' team were stung in the group stages and won one match, losing the other two, however, again, results were second to improving fitness and putting on a good performance.

Robert Parr and Ross Moffat were both vying for try of the day, when Parr finished off an impressive try which started in his own 22 and Moffat matched him with a fine solo try from the halfway line.

Clydebank's next game was away to Greenock Wanderers and the Bank won 26-17 in difficult conditions. Neither side got into a rhythm, however, the Bank scored four tries to three with Sean Smith, Robert Parr, Ali Smart and Ross McCombe all dotting down for the tries.
