Clydebank 1st XV faced unbeaten Lenzie in the league at Viewfield and they showed just why they are in contention for the league by blitzing Bank 64-0. The Red and Blacks had no answer to the pace and power of the home team who were impressive throughout the match. The 2nd XV however restored some pride for the club by beating Cartha Queens Park in a friendly encounter at Whitecrook 49-12.

Lenzie began the 1st half with intent, so much so that they had scored five tries within 15 minutes as Clydebank capitulated. It wasn't that Clydebank were playing badly but they had no answer to the swiftness of Lenzie's recycling and speed, creating several overlaps to overwhelm the Bank defence.

Both forwards and backs combined well to pile on the misery for visitors as the half ended 40-0. Clydebank's lineout was working well but they couldnt't capitalise on this good platform as Lenzie defended aggressively to keep them oout. The half ended 40-0.

Clydebank fought back early in the 2nd half and tried to make inroads on the scoreline but were unable to turn posession into points. Lenzie tightened their grip on the game as their back row took over and scored 4 tries between them to compound the misery for the away side. Although Clydebank had an inexperienced lineup this was a wake up call that to compete in this tough West Division 2 league, the squad as a whole need play as well away from home as they do at Whitecrook where they are unbeaten. Lenzie were worthy winners and put on a superb performance and hopefully Clydebank can redeem themselves in another tough away fixture next week as they make the long journey to face Stewartry.

Clydebanks 2nd XV played out their skin at Whitecrook by crushing Cartha 59-12. With several of the clubs veterans playing they showed that class is permanent and age is not a barrier as Ronnie McKee scored 3, Jim Welson, Graeme Kyle and David Smart also scored tries. Clydebanks young pups also got in on the act with Alex Allan getting 3 of his own and a further try from Andy Lyle. Clydebank also blooded talented youngsters Callum Smith and Jack Kirkwood and both produced fine performances. The team are desperate for competitive matches to show this kind of form are hopefull their league game against Paisley next week at Anchor goes ahead.
