CLYDEBANK’s reputations as a BMX destination is growing fast following another successful event held last weekend by the Western Titans.

The Clydebank club hosted cyclists from across Scotland as they battled it out for the Scottish Power Youth Series spoils, while a strong English contingent also made the trip north.

The host club, which is based on Onslow Road, amassed an impressive medal tally, winning seven races with a blend of youth and experience.

Rising star Ryan Anderson won the Male 15 category, Peter Crowson claimed victory in the Male 13 race and Crusier 13-14. Meanwhile, Craig Louie won the Male 16 crown.

Youngster Daniel McCrory was the pick of the Male 11s and his teammate Harrison Bell was top of the Male 10s. Mia Paton fought off all comers to win the Female 15-16 race.

Musselburgh Monarchs travelled East after the event pleased with their identical haul of seven wins. There were also a number of strong performances from the Cumbernauld Centurions who claimed four wins.

Bob MacFarlane, Scottish Cycling Events Development Officer and coordinator of Scottish Power National Youth Racing Series, said: “For the third time this season, Clydebank hosted an excellent event, and they performed well both on and off the track. The members are a credit to the club and they finished the day with a number of wins.

“Between Musselburgh Monarchs, Cumbernauld Centurions and the Western Titans there is a true BMX community developing in Scotland and it’s growing all the time, which is fantastic for the sport.

“I can’t wait to see more top quality action at Broadwood on August 15 and the following week back at Clydebank.

“It has never been easier to get involved in cycling.
